Truman Blue is a real life therapy dog and a crisis response dog. His favorite places to regularly visit are behavioral health hospitals and children’s shelters. As a crisis response dog, he can visit more complex events like tornado or hurricane recovery. The author spent hundreds of hours acclimating Truman Blue to all sorts of situations. Positive reinforcement helps Truman Blue understand that what he is doing is fun and rewarding (TREAT). Truman Blue has also done some acting. He was “the dog” in a local production of “Of Mice and Men.” He is a national park BARK ranger, a fun title any dog can earn at many national parks. He is a gentle soul who loves to learn new tricks and visit new people and places.
